Accra (Bukom) — Tuesday, 27 December 2022
Zoe, Akyea & Co. joined forces with the Pinamaa Foundation and the Zoomlion Foundation to deliver a high-impact community outreach in Bukom, Accra, bringing practical support, healthcare access, and education to children and adolescent girls.
For over 10 years, the Pinamaa Foundation has championed the welfare of the girl child. This year’s partnership focused on immediate relief and long-term empowerment through health education, essential supplies, and access to national health insurance.
Citing local statistics on teenage pregnancy, the Foundation selected Bukom to help address an urgent need for SRH education, mentorship, and access to services. The programme combined practical assistance with preventative education to support girls’ health, safety, and schooling outcomes.
Impact at a Glance
The Pinamaa Foundation, founded by Mrs. Phillipina Adelaide Akyea, mobilised GHS 70,000 in direct support to fund the outreach. Approximately 3,000 beneficiaries were served under the theme “Food for a Soul,” and received meals, drinks, and water.
The programme offered free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration for children aged 0–10 years, improving access to basic healthcare. Beneficiaries also received essential dignity and learning items, including sanitary pads and educational materials for school-age children. The team delivered targeted sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education for adolescent girls in response to community data indicating more than 200 teenage pregnancies in the area in 2022.
Under the coordination of Thomas Korley, the Zoomlion Foundation partnered with the programme to support beneficiary engagement and deliver health education.
The team also promoted cleanliness and sanitation awareness and ensured the venue remained clean during and after the event, reinforcing the message that community health begins with a clean environment.
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), represented by Henlette Annan, engaged parents and young people on responsible digital behaviour—discouraging the sharing of explicit images and videos—and emphasised the importance of personal responsibility and positive choices for long-term wellbeing.
According to Mrs. Phillipina Adelaide Akyea, the initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to practical, dignity-preserving support: pairing essential supplies and healthcare access with education that equips young people to make informed decisions.
Zoe, Akyea & Co. is proud to support partnerships that bridge compassion and impact, helping communities thrive through health, education, and opportunity.
